Fort Clatsop or Bust: An RV Trip across the USA

Situation: From 1804 to 1806, a US Army expedition led by Captains Lewis and Clark traveled across the American continent to explore much of the newly acquired Louisiana Purchase.  The Corp of Discovery included persons of many races, an exceptional woman, a child, and a dog.   This expedition greatly increased our knowledge of the continent and its peoples and inspired our nation.    It was one of the great endeavors of American history.

Mission:  Team Yertle follows the general route of Lewis and Clark across America to Fort Clatsop, Oregon, in the fall of 2014 in our own Journey of Discovery.

Concept of Operation:  Team Yertle will travel by road, approximately 250 miles per day.   Special attention will be paid to museums, monuments, native tribes, and the land.   The Team will rest overnight in RV parks.   Team personnel are Linda, Stan, and Stella, the wonder dog.

Service and Support:   Prime Mover: Harriet, a 2006 Ford F150.    RV: Yertle, a 22 foot Jayco JayFlight.  Support from home station will be provided by Ava, the cat.

Command and Control:  Communications with rear support will be maintained via mobile phone, email, and this blog.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this blog is threefold:
   (1) Keep our family and friends informed of our progress.
   (2) Serve as a travel resource for others who may wish to make a similar trip.
   (3) Be our personal record of the journey
